It’s been an exciting time at Greenhouse PR with the opening of our new sustainable offices in Bristol and London, and now we’re delighted to announce another new addition to our talented team. With a focus on social media and copy writing, Jemma Moran joins us from Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage.

Jemma is an experienced digital communicator, with a portfolio of work spanning nearly a decade in public and private sector roles. She was the Digital Marketing Manager at River Cottage where she revamped and developed rivercottage.net and nurtured their international facing social media channels and email marketing.

With a passion for all things environmental and ethical, Jemma was recently a judge for the Soil Association’s 2016 Best of Organic Market (BOOM) awards.

Boom

We caught up with Jemma, fresh from the BOOM awards ceremony, which was held at London’s Borough Market Hall Wednesday night.

What was your involvement in The BOOM awards?
I was delighted to be asked to judge the Best Food Blog category alongside my fellow judges, Anna Jones (author of A Modern Way to Cook), Fab Giovanetti (founder of the Health Bloggers Community) and Annie Seeley (Organic Trade Board). We had a tough job deciding on a winner, as the standard was really high. It was great to see the bloggers taking a keen interest not only in organic but also locally-sourced produce, seasonality and wild food – all things close to my heart.

Why did you want to get involved with the awards?
For me it was a chance to meet lots of like-minded people and support the great work of the Soil Association. I buy organic as much as possible and always want to know the origins of what I’m eating and drinking. When you buy organic, you know that it’s better for the planet, wildlife, animal welfare and for your health – who wouldn’t want to be a part of promoting that message?

Tell us about the awards ceremony last night – what were your highlights?
Last night was a fantastic celebration of the UK organic scene. Nearly 200 people gathered at the Borough Market Hall to enjoy a feast of organic food and drink, and of course see who had won the 20 awards up for grabs. For me, the highlight was seeing Rebel Recipes win the Best Food Blog and making new friends with the lovely people from Tideford Organics, Clive’s Pies and Tiphereth Trading – with whom I shared a table and interesting conversations about all things foodie and organic.

What was the best thing you tasted at the awards?
The organic tomato passata by Community Foods on sourdough from Hobbs House Bakery was absolutely delicious. I also have to mention Brown Cow Organics Strawberry and Vanilla Panna Cotta – which is utterly amazing and has to be tasted to be believed!
